Virginia Beach City FC

Virginia Beach City FC is an American professional soccer club based in Hampton Roads, VA that participates in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).

Establishment

The NPSL is a national men's soccer league in the United States and is the second largest owner operated league in the United States Soccer Pyramid behind Major League Soccer (MLS).

Virginia Beach City FC was awarded an NPSL Franchise in 2013 with their inaugural season played in 2014. The team went undefeated during the the regular season earning points against MLS side, D.C. United U23 NPSL.

Virginia Beach City FC is the first soccer club in Hampton Roads, Virginia to provide the full player development pyramid from youth to amateur / professional on a year round basis.

Stadium

Since inception, Virginia Beach City FC plays all home games at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, a $6.8M custom built soccer specific stadium. The stadium features seating for 6,000 on two levels including six luxury box suites. The lower deck contains 3,600 seats, while the upper deck contains 2,400. The majority of the seats have armchairs with seat backs.

Performance

Virginia Beach Cty FC has found success on the field earning a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Berth, two NPSL playoff appearances and a NPSL Mid Atlantic Regular Season Conference Championship Title. The club also owns and operates a minor league women's franchise under the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL).

D.C. United Affiliate of Hampton Roads

Through the Major League Development Association (MLDA), Virginia Beach City FC announced a multi-year agreement with D.C. United of Major League Soccer exclusively in Hampton Roads, Va, 2018.

Virginia Beach City FC  and D.C. United coordinate annual friendly matches at all levels, D.C. United will lead educational coaching sessions for VB City FC academy staff and will expand the scouting network between both clubs in Hampton Roads and the Washington D.C. Metro.

In addition, Virginia Beach City FC will host D.C. United Talent Centers, where the top players in the region, regardless of club affiliation, will be coached and identified by D.C. United coaching staff. 

Virginia Beach City FC has had multiple players selected to the MLS SuperDraft (Ex. Sidney Rivera to Orlando City SC, 2014 and Michael Nelson to Seattle Sounders, 2015)

Academy

Similar to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Youth Development initiative established in 2006, requiring each MLS club to identify and develop players in their respective home territories, Virginia Beach City FC also believes in providing upcoming players with professional soccer aspirations an opportunity to pursue their dreams while also continuing their education and remaining close to their family at home.

The Virginia Beach City FC Academy program is designed for the elite player (boys and girls), offering a year round training model and is focused on long term player development and identification at the collegiate, amateur and professional levels. It is run in connection with the VB City FC NPSL (men) and WPSL (women) First Team. 

In addition to the Virginia Beach City FC Academy the club offers training and competition platforms for males and females ages 4-23 at the beginner, intermediate and elite levels.
